Towers of Light 2015 – This year, I went down along the Waterfront Esplanade, a favorite location of mine to get these photos. The September 11 set was taken just about an hour ago and the September 9 set was the testing of the lights. Tests are always done a day or two before September 11. One WTC was not lit red, white, and blue this year. I don’t know why.
The proper name is Tribute in Light and it has been presented by the Municipal Arts Society since 2002. On a clear night, the beams reach an altitude of four miles (21,140 feet).
